Hi! I’m Chad. I love data, travelling and anything to do with sport.
I decided it’s about time I started blogging some of the interesting things I come up against and figure out, so to help other people out there who may by chance be reading this blog.
I originally hail from Auckland, New Zealand, but I am now based in London, UK with my family where I work as a Senior Database Administrator at Fraedom, a subsidiary of Visa. My focus is on Microsoft SQL Server where my main interests are reliability, scalability, migrations, and automation.
I’m a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE): Data Management and Analytics and a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA): SQL Server 2012/2014.
I got my start in 2009, first as a mixed developer / DBA / app support role, then quickly changed to a full time DBA, which I’ve mostly been ever since. I’ve managed reliability and performance for varying servers, from modern to ancient, physical and virtual, databases tens of terabytes in size, and thousands of transactions per second.
Outside of work, I enjoy travelling the world with my young family, exploring my local city by hiking, cycling and running, and playing proper football.
I look forward to sharing many more blog posts with you in the future.
